How Payments Are Handled

Paystack is used to process subscription payments for hosts, property owners, and agencies that want to list and manage properties on JBayLet. The service provider selects a subscription plan, logs into their JBayLet account, and is redirected to a secure Paystack checkout or Paystack popup. JBayLet does not store card numbers, CVV, banking details, or other sensitive payment credentials.

After payment, Paystack confirms the transaction. JBayLet verifies the Paystack reference server-side, checks the paid amount, currency, and plan configuration, then grants the paid account access and dashboard permissions linked to the selected plan. If Paystack later reports that a subscription is inactive, disabled, or payment failed, JBayLet removes the paid listing access linked to that subscription.

Agency applicants do not pay from the public subscription card. They submit an application first. If the application is approved, JBayLet emails the applicant a secure billing link that opens the agency checkout with the approved agency plan on the left and Paystack payment on the right. Agency dashboard access is activated only after Paystack payment verification succeeds.

For bookings, a user books or enquires on a listing and then gets into contact with the host or agency responsible for that listing. The guest and host discuss booking terms, payment method, deposits, percentages, commissions, and any direct rental or accommodation costs between themselves. JBayLet does not process, hold, split, or interfere with booking payments between guests and hosts. Paystack is used for service-provider subscription access, not for guest-to-host booking payments or automated payouts.

Terms of Service and Subscription Terms

Users must agree to the Terms of Service when creating an account. Hosts, property owners, and approved agencies must also agree to the Subscription Terms before continuing to Paystack payment. These terms explain account responsibilities, platform rules, listing responsibilities, subscription access, billing, cancellations, refunds, and permitted use of paid dashboard features.

Service Provider Vetting & KYC

Individual hosts create a JBayLet account, choose the relevant subscription plan, and use the dashboard to submit property listings. JBayLet collects the account details needed for registration and communication, the service provider subscription record, and the property listing information submitted by the provider, such as property category, location, description, pricing, rules, availability, photos, and related listing details.

Agencies do not pay immediately from the subscription page. They must apply first. The agency application asks for applicant details, email address, phone number, South African ID number, registered agency or company name, company registration number, agency number, PPRA / Fidelity Fund Certificate number, business physical address, number of agents, property management experience, an explanation of how the agency operates, an ID document image, stamped and signed proof of address, business registration documents, PPRA / Fidelity Fund Certificate, and agency supporting documents.

JBayLet reviews applications, listings, and account activity for completeness, accuracy, safety, and policy compliance. Hosts and agencies set up their own costs, payment terms, booking process, and operating systems for their listings. JBayLet may reject, pause, suspend, or place an account under review where information is incomplete, misleading, unverifiable, unlawful, fraudulent, or inconsistent with legal or platform safety standards.

Pricing Structure

JBayLet uses subscription-based listing fees for service providers. Plans are configured in the JBayLet administration system and mapped to Paystack plan codes. Each plan determines the provider dashboard access, listing categories, and listing limits available after payment.

  • Single listing plans are available for one property category, such as one home, rental, student accommodation, or holiday rental listing.
  • Host plans are intended for individual hosts managing their own property portfolio.
  • Agency plans are intended for approved agencies managing larger portfolios and up to 50 active agency agents.

The active plan price, billing period, currency, and included listing access are displayed before checkout. Unless a separate written agreement says otherwise, JBayLet charges subscription fees for platform access and does not charge automated commission-based fees through Paystack.

Disputes & Concerns

Guests, hosts, agencies, and property owners can report safety concerns, host or guest conduct, property issues, listing accuracy concerns, payment concerns, privacy concerns, fraud, or other disputes through the Report a Concern page or by contacting support.

The dispute process is: first, users should try to resolve direct booking, payment, cancellation, or service issues with the other party and keep written records. Second, users may submit a report to JBayLet with the property link, account details, dates, screenshots, payment references exchanged directly with the host or agency, and a clear explanation. Third, JBayLet reviews available platform records and may contact the parties, pause listings, restrict accounts, place accounts under review, request more evidence, or escalate serious legal or safety matters.

JBayLet reviews submitted reports, checks available booking, listing, account, and communication logs, contacts the relevant parties when needed, and may pause listings, restrict account access, suspend accounts, place accounts under review, reject applications, or escalate serious matters to the appropriate authorities. Users should include booking details, property details, payment references exchanged with the host, screenshots, and any supporting evidence when reporting a dispute.

Refund & Cancellation Policy

Subscription fees give service providers access to listing tools and dashboard features for the selected billing period. Refund requests for subscription payments are reviewed case by case, including duplicate payments, incorrect plan activation, failed access provisioning, or other billing errors. Approved refunds are processed back through the original payment channel where possible.

When a service provider cancels a subscription, the cancellation stops future renewal billing where supported by Paystack. The user keeps the paid role and subscription access until the current paid service period expires, unless access is suspended earlier for fraud, abuse, legal non-compliance, chargeback risk, or serious policy breach. At expiry, JBayLet may remove the paid role, paid listing access, and paid dashboard features linked to that plan.

For accommodation bookings, cancellation terms depend on the policy shown for the property or agreed during booking. Standard policies may include flexible, moderate, strict, or long-term cancellation terms. Any refund depends on the applicable policy, the timing of cancellation, payment processor fees, and whether the stay or service has already started.
